In case anyone is wondering..........

My great grandfather WAS actually fined twenty shillings for poaching, near Washingborough, in 1898..... but hes the only one who ever got caught :-D

and dont call it a BRITISH folk song, theres no such thing in the UK - only English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish folk songs, and various subdivisions - eg Cornish, Northumberland, Lincolnshire etc :-P

Hi just thought i should say Lincolnshire Poacher is also the regimental song and a march for the 2nd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment "the poachers" The song is very important to the battalion and can be heard on many times being sung at full volume from messes and partys wherever a "poacher" is based.
