(Rdr from bowline)
[edit]bowline links here as part of directions on how to tie it "lighting fast". Unfortunately, this redirects to knot, which doesn't seem to have directions on how to tie a slip knot. *sigh* --Johnleemk 10:34, 15 Apr 2004 (UTC)
The link to Rolling hitch as an example of a knot that slides along the middle of another rope is incorrect. Rolling hitches are tied specifically not to slide, but to grip. -BonsaiViking 22:46, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Bad photo
[edit]The attached photo was of a slipknot album..and not a slipknot. The admins need to watch this page for regular cases of minor vandalism like this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dewdude (talk • contribs) 22:22, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Running Knot
[edit]'Running Knot' links here but there is no information in this article pertaining to running knots. I know that a running knot is a series of slipknots used to shorten rope or line but this is a bad redirect, it is almost completely irrelevent.66.170.42.236 (talk) 00:32, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
A running knot is distinct from a slip knot only in the orientation; pulling the standing part releases a slip knot, pulling the working end releases a running knot. I propose a new page be created for running knot. Hadron137 (talk) 21:10, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
Running knot is the same as noose knot. I updated the redirect from running knot to point to noose instead of slip knot. Hadron137 (talk) 22:04, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

Stopper knot?
[edit]What makes this a stopper knot? On reading the definition of stopper knot, a slip knot in no way serves the function of a stopper knot. Kortoso (talk) 13:11, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
