I made a crack at fleshing it out a bit, but it definately feels like a definition to me. -Elliott Shultz 17:39, 10 Mar 2004 (UTC)

"Literal" definition

[edit]

I removed the following text:

The term is literal — meaning a pit from where material was borrowed, although without an implication of someday returning the material.

ion?n?==

Same as a barrow pit?

[edit]

I've heard it called a bar pit, borrow pit, bar ditch, or some other combination of things. Does bar ditch only refer to ones created for drainage purposes perhaps? I have no idea, but thought I'd ask. biggins (talk) 20:41, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
