Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Might be a good idea to extend the current page protection. Bring it in line with the talk page which is also protected (indefinite) due to ongoing sockuppetry and disruption. Propose a ~3 month extension. KH-1 (talk) 05:11, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Since the past few days, people have been changing images, names a lot. It is a hassle to change it back everytime. It has happened 4 times if I can recollect correctly.

It gets around 1500 views every day and people are very eager to make changes. Requesting protection for a few years, atleast till his chief ministerial term finishes in 2028.

    Requesting protection till: 2028-12-01 Skratata69 (talk) 05:43, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Zac67 (talk) 06:55, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. @Zac67: Please try to make greater efforts to explain the reasons for these reverts, both in edit summaries and on user talk pages. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 07:30, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Genre warrior IP address keeps removing sourced content and adding "screamo" over and over. He uses different IPs so a block itself probably would not do any good. Lil Sad Lil Happy (talk) 10:18, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent unconstructive editing by multiple IPs. PadFoot (talk) 11:12, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent vandalism. Charliehdb (talk) 11:53, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Nabil Qaouk

Temporary extended confirmed: Persistent disruptive editing and vandalism since yesterday. Elserbio00 (talk) 12:28, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – BLP that falls under the purview of WP:CT/A-I which has been the repeated target of a COI sockputtetry campaign. IPs are now restoring the banned user's addition. Bobby Cohn (talk) 12:44, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: wholesale vandalism by IPs. Also request indefinite extended confirmed protection as a CTOPS ARBPIA article. Borgenland (talk) 12:50, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – publishing and performance rights organization that is currently blocking music on Youtube due to a rights dispute with Google. Getting either drive-by vandalism from IPs or additions to a list of affected artists not supported by a reliable source. Doc StrangeMailboxLogbook 14:51, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 10 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:12, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: IP vandalism after page got unprotected. M S Hassan 📬✍🏻 15:29, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of BLP vandalism. 38.141.208.35 (talk) 15:31, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New vandalism after automatic unprotecting. Requesting ongoing semi-protection for period of 1 year. 38.141.208.35 (talk) 15:36, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinate extended-confirmed protection: Arbitration Enforcement, and WP:CT/AI. Especially considering the death of Nasrallah, and the Israeli airstrikes on Beirut. 142.114.181.79 (talk) 15:53, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – WP:LTA/BMX. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 16:07, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

This is a highly politically divisive topic and many partisan theories are presented as facts. Stick to the facts and describe the conspiracy theories as such. To start, remove the coup reference from the first line that is a theory and the supporting evidence admits so. "Numerous scholars, historians, political scientists, and journalists have characterized these efforts to overturn the election as an attempted self-coup". Many left wing sources will say it was a coup attempt and many right wing sources will say it was not. This is presented as a fact when it is just conjecture. Gftbs (talk) 04:55, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In the section Views on international politics, there is a subsection entitled Pre-2000 Israeli occupation of Lebanon. That subsection has a bulleted list of quotes where the first begins with "If we are to expel...". That quote has a typo in it where it currently reads in part:

nor on the United Nations ....t of one

It is unclear what t was meant to means. What's worse, this quote has no source, so the reader can not find the original and determine this for themselves. The lack of a source reference and the typo both need to be fixed. Marcus T. V. Stassinopolus (talk) 12:39, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done I have added a source for the quote and corrected the quote based on it. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 13:11, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The original Washington Post interview is in the article as a reference too (ref name="Wright") if any other errors turn up. Sean.hoyland (talk) 13:17, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
