[edit]Valerie Dore / Dora Carofiglio's career is very confusing because of different stage names, side projects, etc. I gathered my information from these sources: [1] and [2], which really help in explaining her history. The pieces of the puzzle are coming together now. - Milk 00:40, 26 May 2005 (UTC)
Really name of Valerie Dore is Monica Stucchi, as you can see in VALERIE DORE OFFICIAL SITE. http://www.valeriedore.it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.59.187.184 (talk) 07:12, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- Valerie Dore "visually" was (and still is) Monica Stucchi. The singer was Dora Carofiglio for the first songs ("The Night", "Get Closer", "It's so Easy"), then Simona Zanini (all great "The Legend" album). NOTICE: Stucchi sang only one song - 2006 production "How Do I Get To Mars?", still as Valerie Dore, of course.
- That's all. No more mysteries. ;)

- Well naturally, Stucchi has hitched her star to the Valerie Dore name, and doesn't want to tarnish her reputation. It's just like Stefano Zandri, who never really comes clean about how he was only the "image", never the voice, of Den Harrow for any of that project's hits. It's a sad state of affairs, really; these people are not untalented, for what they did in the past, or what they do today...but I can see why it's difficult for them to present the truth in plain language. The public, the fans, they don't want to hear about how the voice of Monica Stucchi was never heard on a Valerie Dore record or public appearance before 1988 or 2006 or whenever. They just want to hear the song they remember, performed by the person they thought was the original singer.
- On Wikipedia we're in somewhat of a bind, because this falls under the WP:BLP guidelines where everything has to be aggressively sourced. But there's so little written about Valerie Dore, nothing can really be said about these people with any certainty, and this is complicated by the fact that no one ever comes clean (in print) about what really happened.
- Zanini is the only one to say anything: Valerie Dore was produced by Roberto Gasparini, Merak Music. After her first hits he made her sign with EMI. It was a big project with a major label. Marco Tansini and I had been working with Merak Music (Monia, Diana Barton, John Ryel) and Gasparini decided to give us the job. It was very delicate, Valerie Dore alias Monica Stucchi was singing for the first time (the vocals of hits like The Night, Get Closer, are not hers..) and I followed her singing and pronunciation, recording background vocals too.[3]
- I really think Zanini is being diplomatic here, trying not to sound unprofessional ... but it certainly sounds to me like Stucchi sang badly, so Zanini was brought in to re-record everything. "Follow" is a euphemism. Stucchi may not even be fully aware of what happened. In the end, what do we hear on the records? Zanini alone.
- Well, I know I haven't provided any citations, but I went ahead and tried to beef up the article a bit... hope it lasts. —mjb (talk) 14:19, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
- In response to an edit calling into question my interpretation of Zanini's statements, I dialed back the tone of certainty—no one actually said exactly whose voice is on the finished record. Zanini says that Stucchi recorded lead vocals, and it is implied that these vocals reflected Stucchi's inexperience. Zanini says she then "followed" Stucchi's "singing and pronunciation, recording background vocals too."
- I've never heard the term 'follow' used in singing to mean something other than 'imitate' so it seems to me that she was delicately saying that she re-recorded the same vocals in Stucchi's style, along with background vocals. But she does not say exactly that, nor does she say "mine is the only voice you hear on the record." And we can only say or summarize what has been publicly stated. My new text attempted to address this.
- However, Billywatch, a new Wikipedia editor, soon thereafter removed my claim that Zanini re-sang the lead vocals in Stucchi's style. The edit summary reads "I am Zanini, I did not re-record Stucchi's vocals in "The Legend" and I never said such a thing nor Vujkovic's interview states it. I just took care of her singing and pronunciation and did background vocals."
- I am letting that stand, setting aside my skepticism about the meaning of "follow" in the interview and whether Billywatch really is Zanini. I won't push this issue further. I just want to impress upon everyone editing here that on Wikipedia, we are obligated to cite external, reliable sources for everything we say that a living person said or did, be it Stucchi or Zanini or anyone else associated with the Valerie Dore project. —mjb (talk) 02:24, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
