2 Stupid Dogs
[edit]About your edit to 2 Stupid Dogs, I can't understand why you call Powerpuff Girls "immensely popular". Apparently, it isn't on TV that much, and its merchandise isn't advertised much anymore. It's more POV anyway, not necessarily a fact. --Marcus2
- Hi. I meant the phrase "immensely popular" to be a descriptor of the success of "Powerpuff Girls", not its quality. It was in contrast to "2 Stupid Dogs". While "2 Stupid Dogs" was never very successful, and not widely known, "Powerpuff Girls" was, at its height, big enough to be a part of the mainstream US culture. The characters were recognizable to a large percentage of the population, its merchandise was sold at several chain stores, and it even had a nationally-released motion picture in the theaters (although it wasn't very successful).
- The point being that, to the average viewer of "2 Stupid Dogs", it would be interesting to note its visual similarity to "Powerpuff Girls", a show they're likely to be more familiar with. But in retrospect, I agree that the descriptor "immensely popular" can sound like impartial praise.--AaronW 22:19, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Actually, I think Powerpuff Girls was merely pretty popular, but never "enough to be a part of the mainstream US culture", and its success wasn't even close to Pokemon or even Rugrats. --Marcus2
- PPG certainly didn't last as long as either Pokemon or Rugrats. Unfortunately, I don't have any hard data on the relative popularity of these shows, just vague guesses based mostly on how much of them I saw in the media. So, you'll just have to use your best judgement. As with all things in Wikipedia, I wrote the statement in the hope that if someone came along with more accurate information, they would correct my mistake. :) --AaronW 22:50, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)
