[edit]The current earl (9th) does not seem to have a son nor any child or heir, according to my sources (thepeerage.com & www3.dcs.hull.ac.uk/genealogy/royal/). --VM 18:03, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, I found a living male heir of the 1st earl's body: Lt.-Cmdr. Rupert Jose Evelyn Craven (b. 1926), a grandson of the 3rd earl by a younger son; he has been married since 1955, but I found no children of his.
And there does not seem to be any further male heir of the barony, either.

An earlier Baron Craven
[edit]While I was looking into the origins of the Craven Scholarship at Oxford University, I discovered that there was an earlier Baron Craven. John Craven (1610-06-10-c.1650) was created by king Charles the first 21 March 1642 baron Craven of Ryton in the county of Salop, which title (Lord Craven of Ryton ) became extinct at his death. His father Sir William Craven was Lord Mayor of London in 1610. See Lord Mayors of London. For my search details, see Talk:John Charles Ryle. DFH 13:39, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Coat of Arms
[edit]We have the arms of the Earl of Craven at top and bottom. The top shows the standard comital coronet. Neither shows the chapeau, crest, supporters, or motto. Can anyone help? At the least, the second illustration should be deleted. J S Ayer (talk) 03:35, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
