Google cache of a biography page for Puttkamer's guest appearance at a Star Trek convention. It looks mostly pasted from what's probably an official NASA biography and so it could be incorporated to wikipedia if the original source can be found. It's not anywhere obvious on NASA's site and I have the impression that Puttkamer retired from NASA somewhat unhappily (maybe due to friction with the Bush admin).

[edit]Response from Jesco von Puttkamer: "As of 2005, the Accused has not retired from NASA and is certainly not unhappy. On the contrary, he is quite happy with the Bush Administration and its new Moon/Mars Exploration Vision that breaks NASA out of chasing its tail and sets it on a straight course to the future. The current bio in Wikipedia is accurate and up-to-date, having been edited from its original text by the subject himself." (May 2005)
Where did the Dr. degree come from? Can't hurt also to include where he studied for his engineering degree, see German Wikipedia.
FUNAI involvement?
[edit]Isn't this the same Jesco von Puttkamer who volunteered with Brazil's FUNAI when it attempted "pacification" (sounds like an offensive term!) of the then-named Cinta Larga Indians in Brazil circa 1971? A person by this name wrote an article for National Geographic that was published around that time. GBC 18:39, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Title
[edit]"Note regarding personal names: Freiherr is a title, translated as Baron, not a first or middle name. The female forms are Freifrau and Freiin."
That is wrong. Freiherr like all German titles changed around 1920 to be part of the surname. His Surname is Freiherr von Puttkamer. Nankea from German Wikipedia 79.210.64.208 22:45, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
The date was 1919, and even though, according to the German government, Freiherr and von are merely part of the surname now, Freiherr is still a title equivalent to Baron. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.143.49.236 (talk) 20:32, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
Hello Jesco!
[edit]Good to see you are still alive and well in the 21st Century. Remember Star Trek America at the Statler Hilton in 1976? That is where we met. I told you about my idea for generating artificial Gravity.

Apollo 11 book: reprinted or not?
[edit]As I'm looking at the article soon after his death, the paragraph dealing with his writing is out of date. If somebody can confirm the republishing of his book on Apollo 11 which was slated to be released in time for the summer of 2009 and the 40th anniversary of the mission, the article would be improved.
