Apple Chapel Rumour
[edit]My mate was on clean-up duty that day and he caught them with the apple pie. Paterson did his best to make sure no-one talked (kind of fitting, given the current revelation about cover-ups), but of course being teenagers they immediately told their friends, hence the entire North Shore finding out within a couple of days. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.242.90.11 (talk) 02:29, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
Why does tKnox have cadets?
Caution
[edit]There has been considerable discussion of this and no verifiable source has been found to substantiate it, only personal testimony which is not acceptable. It should therefore not be mentioned in the article. Persistent attempts to do so in violation of wiki policy are likely to be regarded as disruptive behaviour. Should a suitable verification be provided (e.g. a newspaper mention), then it can be used. It is particularly sensitive as any possible identification of individuals could be defamatory. Tyrenius 18:54, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, sorry. I originally kicked it off with a question asking for verification as the story was well known around Sydney and seemed relevant. As there is no way of independently verifying this, no way it can be included in the article. Apologies for starting off the controversy. - Tbsdy lives (talk) 13:01, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

References (Please read if adding to Famous Knox Grammarians)
[edit]Since this article gets a bit of vandalism every now and then, and some vandals like adding entries to the "Famous Knox Grammarians" section that look like they could be true, it'd be nice if editors could provide references for their edits. An edit without a reference means someone should probably check up on it (Google, etc) and revert it if it can't be confirmed. For the "Famous Knox Grammarians" section, this might help: [1]
Where is Knox
[edit]There may be two sides to the question of whether KGS is in Warrawee or Wahroonga. The PO box is at Wahroonga, because Warrawee doesn't have a post office. The students use Warrawee station, which is just at the back gate, but Wahroonga is a short walk from the side gate. The school is surrounded on three sides by Wahroonga, and on the fourth by Warrawee. But I think it's actually in Warrawee, which consists of only a very few blocks, surrounded by Wahroonga and Turramurra.
The warcry goes in part - Warrawee! Warrawee! Black and Blue!
or for the 1st fifteen only - Warrawee! Warrawee! Ruck it, white! - as they use unique white jerseys.
The Prepschool and Gillespie field are both certainly in Wahroonga. Andrewa 17:08, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Actually, Gillespie is a 2074 Turramurra location, as all the houses around it have a Turramurra address. Synaptic_DX
The School is in Wahroonga but the Chapel is in Warrawee. Student at KGS
from an evidently more recent student at KGS: the warcries above have never ever been used in the last 12 years... either they're very old, or they never existed. Officially the entire campus (for all deliveries) is Warrawee. It seems to turn into wahroonga just past woodville gate, as most of the residences next to the school are "wahroonga" adressed. Logically half of it should be in Wahroonga, but since the school is practically sitting on warrawee station its easier to call it Warrawee. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.182.131.21 (talk • contribs)
Actually if you walk along the Pacific highway parralel to the school, starting at Wahroonga, the vast majority of the school is passed before you get to the sign saying you are now in Warrawee, which is roughly across from the school chapel, so therefore all but the school chapel are in Wahroonga, and if referring to the address, it should be Wahroonga as the majority of the school is located there.- a student at knox in 2008 Trasder (talk) 00:39, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
KGSCU, Platoons that dont exist
[edit]In the section about specialist platoons, I am not aware of any group known as Delta Force Aaclarkcdr 01:01, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
- Delta Force is a group of Year 12s who go on an expedition each year. Check the website. Werdna648T/C\@ 03:49, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Delta Platoon got axed after the students placed in it quit. This occured approx mid-2005.; >User_talk:Synaptic_DX
I believe that they were changed to "Zulu", and then they became "Recon". —Preceding unsigned comment added by X-TheJoker-x (talk • contribs) 11:13, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
That's correct. It was Delta, for CUOs who didn't get a posting. It became Zulu and now it is Recon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.158.37.163 (talk) 07:13, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Media coverage
[edit]I have added the following referenced information to the article:
- The school attracted widespread media coverage in 2009, when criminal charges were laid against five former teachers for alleged sex offences between 1976 and 1990.[1][2]The school wrote to Old Grammarians offering them counselling.[3]

- @Design: Ref №1 works. Unfortunately ref № 2 is now a deadlink! I tried to find it again, or an on-line alternative but not successful! № 3 is 'dead' too. Cadet Unit
[edit]I think there's too much detail in the cadet section, to the point where it seems a bit WP:SCHOOLCRUFTy. That one section is longer than any other section, and several other sections combined. Thoughts? ˜danjel [ talk | contribs ] 09:52, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse
[edit]As of 23 February 2015 the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has been looking into this schools handling, (or mishandling) of allegations of sexual abuse at the school. I have a vague feeling that in the past here have been attempts to whitewash this page over prion sexual abuse at Knox for which 4 teachers were convicted, though I may be thinking of another case. Anyway, this needs to be looked out for. I tweaked the relevant section here and I am adding much of it to the Royal Commission page too, as other involved/examined organisations are all mentioned.

• "Case Study 23, February 2015, Sydney". Public Hearings, Child Abuse Royal Commission. Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. 23 February 2015. Retrieved 2 March 2015. The public hearing will inquire into the response of Knox Grammar School ... and the Uniting Church in Australia between 1970 and 2012 to concerns raised about inappropriate conduct by a number of teachers towards students at Knox Grammar School.

- I've added some material on this. Extra eyes on it would be most appreciated - I've tried to be really careful of the wording (as there is obviously scope for massive WP:BLP violations), but the more people reviewing what's added and ensuring it's accurate and fair the better.
