Who is this Colonel George Lynch, who suddenly popps up at the end of the article, and holds a rather racist speech. The article does nowhere say that the townspeople cheered the SS on.

You might want to eliminate the category listings until you complete and post the article. At the moment, you appear to be listing yourself as a member of the SS. MK2 06:57, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll make sure that's straightened out.

I think this is to a point now where I can put it out for everyone to work on. Perhaps with some help we could make this available for an April 13 anniversary? --Iwonderandiwander 23:58, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Rename

[edit]

I propose that this article be renamed to Gardelegen massacre along similar articles describing Nazi crimes in the Second World War, i.e.:

I agree. Boneyard90 (talk) 19:34, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see nobody's actually renamed it despite seeming agreement, so I've gone ahead and done the rename now. --Delirium (talk) 20:40, 10 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I propose it to be called the Gardelegen Swindle, because on scrutiny that is obviously what it was. Good chance that the prisoners were actually killed by the Allies (who had air superiority over the area) and then later framed the Germans with it in a propaganda coup. The obnoxious behavior of the American occupiers of Gardelegen stresses exactly that. --105.9.80.83 (talk) 16:50, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Death and WP: Mil Hist Commentary

[edit]

After assessing the article, here are some points to consider as it's imporved to B-class.

  • Re-name, as mentioned above.
  • References: Top priority. Need some.
  • Structure: Might could use an Infobox. See the article Ponary massacre.
  • Photos: Need a caption under that second photo.

Good luck. Boneyard90 (talk) 19:34, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

picture

[edit]

Looking at the pictures it seems they've been staged concluding from the positions conditions of the corpses and surrounding areas. Are we dealing with another Allied propaganda lie? --41.151.204.240 (talk) 23:04, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree 100%. Every forensic scientist recognizes at once that these pictures are staged. I worked as forensic scientist and I see at once that these corpses were not burned and I don't see any shot wounds neither. They obviously died from starvation or typhus like most victims in the concentration camps.

They also look as if they were buried before for some time already, and then were undug and arranged for these propaganda pictures. The corpses never had any longer contact to fire, cause I don't see any contractures, which ALWAYS occur in corpses in fire. Barn fires get EXTREMELY hot very fast. But I see unburned straw and wood everywhere on the floor and the walls, which is completely impossible after a barn fire. Actually most areas on the floor and the walls seem to be completely untouched by fire. This is a staged "crime scene" with 100% certainty. And it was staged by very stupid and ignorant fakers. Usually the OSS black propaganda specialists did a much better job. I guess this was done by some amateurs or beginners. 91.64.206.41 (talk) 15:05, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Are we dealing with another neo-Nazi loser at 41.151.204.240?

No ... not everyone with a brain and open eyes and the capability of independent thinking is a "neo-Nazi". I consider myself a leftist liberal and I am sure, that that is staged propaganda, too. 91.64.206.41 (talk) 15:05, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why, yes, we are. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.167.200.196 (talk) 00:41, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Content of the 'US Army file 000-12-242'

[edit]

This is an interesting article, because it is the view on the war-crime itself, the German article under http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isenschnibbe is more about the memorial. But this article lacks sources of information, so can somebody please help finding the content of this/these 'US Army file 000-12-242'? Any hint would be appreciated!--Taigatrommel (talk) 11:56, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Known and unknown victims

[edit]

I learned 2 or 3 years ago that my father’s name was written on the Gardelegen memorial (the real name and place of birth, can’t be an homonym). Actually, my father was detained in Buchenwald, then in the kommando of Wansleben, and he was liberated by American army, and returned to France where he died 20 years after. He never was in Gardelegen. We suppose he was just identified by the matricule number found on a body : misreading, or the same number used several times. So, many errors and lacks, don’t mean this stupid idea of propaganda, as if there were not enough examples of real massacres. --Morburre (talk) 11:40, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Most of them were Poles

Not "many of them were Poles" but most of them were Poles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.177.2.232 (talk) 03:46, 21 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Interviews of Survivors by Melchior Wańkowicz

[edit]

The last sentence under "Investigations" tells us that Melchior Wańkowicz conducted Interviews of survivors: "Statements of the survivors were gathered by Polish writer Melchior Wańkowicz and published in 1969." This is lacking a reference. I could sadly not find which publication these Interviews where published in, as i do not speak polish my research might not have been deep enough. As of now this statements lacks a source 193.175.101.62 (talk) 14:57, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
