[edit]Would it be strange to put a see also to Pat Tillman here, as the only football player to lose his life in the war on terror? Or will that be too much of a non sequitur? Jwrosenzweig 18:07, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Rank
[edit]Are you sure he entered the military as a FIRST Lieutenant? Second Lieutenant is the lowest officer rank. - Gmcapt
- I've scanned about two dozen articles and most say 1st lt--some just say lt--none say 2nd. Is it possible he got promoted to 1st while he was still in ROTC, or somewhere else before he shipped out? Niteowlneils 03:02, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- You only receive officership after completing a commissioning program (like ROTC), not during. I know that the Coast Guard promotes recently graduated officers one rank (commissioned as LTJG, instead of ENS) if they do extremely well in the Academy. To the best of my knowledge I don't think the Army ever did anything like that. Jigen III 15:02, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
- There was a gap of perhaps a year between his graduation and his reporting for active duty. I expect that he was serving in some reserve unit during that time, where he could possibly have earned a promotion.--BillFlis 00:04, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

within a day of each other
[edit]It reads that Kalsu and former Cleveland Brown Don Steinbrunner were the only professional football players to lose their lives in the Vietnam War, within a day of each other.. This should be changed since one died in 1967 and the other in 1970. Norum 10:30, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
