Hi,

My name is Dunk. I discovered Wikipedia in February 2004.

Call me a geek, but I think this may well be the future of the internet!

I reckon a huge, far reaching, open access encyclopedia such as this could one day rival Google. This may sound like a bold statement, but I think the main strength of current search engine technology is also it's weakness - searching for keywords is just too freeform to provide accurate results. Whereas a structured, open access encyclopedia could.

It's a Douglas Adams style utopian vision that might actually come to pass. Whatever next?

To all other Wikipedians: I havn't come across such an excited and enthusiastic group of individuals since the birth of the web browser. This project is going to be big.

What's more we all now have an Infinite hobby. Your life as you know it has now ended.

I define infinite hobby as follows:

An infinite hobby is one which has no finite boundries.

Wikipedia could be described as an infinite hobby due to the limitless amount of cataloging that would be involved in describing everything that is known about the human race.

The dange is that this hobby could become all-consuming and lead to entering information at the expense of all other hobbies. This would enevitibly lead to a lack of information to add to the Wikipedia since, without any external references, the user would have nothing to add to the Wikipedia.
