Please note that James the writer of politically incorrect bedtime stories is listed as an alumni of the school and Divine Child high school. Please confirm that this is a graduate of the school and not the latter, alumni implies graduate; potentially dubious.

The Drive
[edit]Since I graduated back in '84, I don't know what the current process is for the Drive. Do they still dedicate a week of school to it? Do guys still go door-to-door during the day? Does Father Donoher still nearly lose his mind running the freshmen bus trips? You know, I miss it. --Habap 19:11, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm adding a section, it's not done yet. Nickoladze 12:43, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah. Today's actually he last day for this year's drive. It goes from a Friday, through the next week to the following Monday. Fr. Ned doesn't do the Freshmen bus trips anymore, probably because its too much stress. (He can't really walk very much anymore, and for the most part rides around school in an electric scooter.) I don't know how much they did in your day, but here's a summary of esome of the stuff. I'll probably add some of this to the article.
First they announce the Top 10 sellers, who come up to the front and draw cards from a deck that indicate homerooms and students. If you're drawn and you've turned in the daily quota (which increases by 12 bucks each day) you get a check for all the money you've turned in so far. They do one drawing for each grade, then six more for the whole school. After that, everyone starts chanting "one more" and they usually do anywhere from 5-10 more. The seniors usually do a couple "seniors only" chants, but if anyone else tries that, they get a "sit down, shut up," chant.
After that there's more drawings. They do drawings from the names of people who have turned in the full weekly quota, ($96) double-quota, triple-quota, and quadruple. There are groups of prizes for each category, and the person picks one. Then they do the "Magic Box." There are no requirements for this, winner gets whatever is in the "magic box," usually some kind of joke.
Then, they do the challenges. Students, homerooms, and entire grades can challenge each other to raise more money, and the loser does something humiliating at the assembly the next day. Instead of choosing the punishments, people can also choose to spin the "Wheel of Doom."
Next usually comes other rankings: the top homerooms in each grade, the top 10 for the whole school, and the rankings for entire grades. The Freshmen pretty much always win, but lately the Seniors have been consistently coming in 2nd place.
Mixed in there somewhere are the class skits. Each grade's student council members organize a Drive skit, and they're spread out across the week.
And that's basically an average drive assembly. I'm gonna take some of the more relevant stuff and put it in the article. He Who Is[ Talk ] 20:01, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Gaming club
[edit]I just wanted to post a thank you to whomever is running the Gaming Club these days. I was one of the founders back in the early 1980s and am overjoyed that it still exists. It probably first appears in the 1981 or 1982 yearbook (I was class of '84 and President my senior year.) --Habap 02:58, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Dave Pounder
[edit]Dave Pounder is indeed an alumni of Detroit Catholic Central as can be verified here http://www.metrotimes.com/culture/story.asp?id=13070 Please be on the lookout for user Nickoladze as he constantly deletes the addition and refuses to accept the truth. Thank You. A2Dogg (talk) 03:59, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Okay, the section is called "Notable Alumni" not "List Your Favorite Alumni". A Porn producer/director/someone who is pretty damn unpopular, is not a notable alumni. There was an article somebody showed me where there was proof of him attending Detroit Catholic Central In Novi. I was in the first graduating class from Novi, and that guy is years older than I am, making it impossible for him to have graduated from there. As awesome as you think he is, he is not notable alumni. Nickoladze (talk) 15:11, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Oh, but Dan Lukacinsky a garage band guitarist is "notable"? And Doug Brzezinski a guy who bounced around NFL practice squads before finding his way out of the league is "notable"? Yet Dave Pounder is not "notable" even though he has been the featured guest on The Tonight Show and has done commentary on CNN? Why not? Because you disagree with his profession? I realize you disagree with his profession and most likely do not agree with his lifestyle but Dave Pounder is quite "notable" whether you would like to admit it or not.
Also, what do you think it more plausible, that they made up the fact that he went to Catholic Central or that the author of the article just looked up where Catholic Central was and wrote down the 1st thing that came up in a google search?
Dave Pounder stays in the article as he has done more than 3/4s of the "Notable Alumni" list.

Disagree with his profession? You're hilarious. Since you're obviously in love with this guy, he might as well stay. Nickoladze (talk) 01:19, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Unless he is willing to have his real name listed, he does not belong in the notable alumni section. There is no alumus of Detroit Catholic Central named Dave Pounder. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.148.209.132 (talk) 12:46, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Bon Fire donation
[edit]Dear Catholic Central MY name is Sharon and I am an alumi mom from class of 2000. I have moved to Canton and have recently cut a small tree down. I am having a hard time getting rid of the tree branch wood. I know you used to have bon Fires and was wondering if you would be interested in this wood for your bon fire? I would also be interested in buying your raffle ticket that you sell every year. Please contact me in this matter at sharonzmuda@yahoo.com My son was Shaun Zmuda —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrszmuda (talk • contribs) 15:06, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
